1. MapReduce is a software framework invented by Google.
2. Hadoop is open source implementation of MapReduce, supported (in part) by Yahoo.
3. The most coherent description of MapReduce I read so far, could be found in the paper from Microsoft.

06:15 pm - Yahoo RSS and conditional GET
As I wrote earlier, RSS conditional GET support is important for managing bandwidth used by RSS feeds. Unfortunately, Yahoo Groups RSS feeds does not seems to support it at the moment.
( It is clearly visible in a sample session TCP dump. )
Maybe with all bandwidth they have they can afford it, but it is also wasting reader bandwidth as well. Besides, it makes their feed nearly useless for people trying to read them over wireless connection from their mobile devices like Palm on Blackberry.
